Several Impaired Drivers Charged by Renfrew OPP During Long Weekend
Over the Easter Long Weekend, Renfrew OPP laid several charges for driving under the influence.
In one instance Sunday (April 1st), Renfrew OPP officers responded to a complaint of an erratic driver on Highway 17 near Cobden. When police located the suspected vehicle they saw it cross over the centre line into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was stopped and the female driver from Pembroke was found to be under the influence of drugs.
In another incident a vehicle was pulled over for speeding and the driver was found to be over the legal alcohol limit.
On Monday (April 2nd) a vehicle was seen pulling into a private drive way trying to avoid a RIDE Check on Bruce Street in Renfrew. The vehicle was eventually stopped by police and the driver admitted to drinking earlier and trying to avoid the RIDE Check. He was charged for Driving Under the Influence as well as Driving While Suspended.
