"Significant Rain" Expected Thursday

We're expecting a lot of rain on Thursday -- and the farther west you go, the more you'll likely see.

The entire Ottawa Valley is expected to see rain throughout the day.

However, a Special Weather Statement has been issued by Environment Canada for the Deep River, Algonquin Park, Whitney and Madawaska areas, which are expecting 20 to 40 millimetres of rain.

Farther west, the area from Mattawa to North Bay is under a Rainfall Warning, with up to 50 millimetres possible.

Mattawa recently declared a state of emergency due to rapidly rising levels on the Ottawa River posing a threat for significant flooding in the town.

Environment Canada says the low pressure system that will bring the rain on Thursday will weaken on Friday, leaving scattered showers in its wake as the system moves out.
