Tractor Trailer Driver Charged in Serious Accident

A tractor-trailer driver has been charged after a serious accident early this morning in the 400 block of Forest Lea Road in the Laurentian Valley.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers responded to the collision just before 3AM. The transport was heading eastbound on Forest Lea Road when it left the road, went through guard posts and eventually came to a rest at the bottom of an embankment. The tractor-trailer sustained extensive damage.

The 40 year old driver from Quebec was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is charged with careless driving. The truck, which was transporting paint, began leaking fuel and paint as a result of the collision.

The Ministry of the Environment has been contacted to help in cleanup efforts.
