Traffic Stop Leads To Drug and Weapons Charges

On the afternoon of January 30, 2018 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) conducted a traffic stop on Pembroke Street East in the City of Pembroke. A passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of drugs and a replica firearm.

As a result of this incident a 17 year-old male youth from Petawawa has been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code (CC) charges:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose

He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to attend Youth Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 15, 2018.  The name of the youth cannot be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA
