UPDATE: postal walkouts hit Renfrew & Arnprior

Renfrew and Arnprior are the latest local communities to be hit by rotating Canada Post walkouts.

The Canadian Union Of Postal Workers says its members will be off the job in Renfrew and Arnprior today, meaning no mail delivery in those areas.

However, delivery is expected to resume today in the corridor between Petawawa and Rolphton, after unionized workers at the post offices in Petawawa and Deep River held walkouts there on Tuesday.

At the Deep River post office yesterday, CUPW local president Brian McKay told Star 96.7 that it's all about fighting for better working conditions.

The union and Canada Post have been locked in a contract dispute for more than 10 months.

In recent days, the union has turned up the pressure by launching walkouts in more communities, and some major postal processing facilities, some of which have lasted for more than one day at a time.
