The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are out with warnings about the popular Canada Revenue Agency extortion threats.
It's Fraud Awareness Month and at this time of year residents start getting phone calls, text messages, email and mail from Canada Revenue Agency scammers.
OPP say warning signs include the scammer always making the request sound very urgent. A lot of times a request for money is made and transfers through Money Gram, Western Union or even your own bank is often encouraged.
The CRA will never request any personal information by email, text or phone. If you ever have doubt about a scam you are always encouraged to call the OPP or Canada Revenue Agency.
