Urn Returned

On September 2, 2017 the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into the theft on an urn from inside a residence on Garden Street in the City of Pembroke. The urn was stolen sometime between 0800am and 100pm on September 2, 2017 while an estate/garage sale was being held at the residence. The pink urn, which contained the ashes of a deceased person, features decorative designs and is approximately 2 to 3 inches in height.

On September 09, 2017 police were called to a separate yard sale in Pembroke after the person hosting the yard sale found that the stolen urn had been wrapped in paper towel and deposited on a table sometime during the yard sale. A note accom panying the urn instructed the finder to call police. The urn was turned over to police and was returned to the family a short time later.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact the Pembroke Detachment of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-732-3332 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
