Valour JK-12 School Currently in Hold and Secure Position While Facebook Threats Investigated

Valour JK-12 School in Petawawa is currently in a Hold and Secure position while Facebook threats made toward the school are actively investigated.

At approximately 7:30 this morning Upper Ottawa Valley OPP became aware of Facebook threats made toward the school. The OPP are currently on scene assisted by the Emergency Response Team, including Renfrew County Paramedic Services.

A number of buses with elementary students were diverted to a secure location manned with school staff just after 8AM.

Parents are currently flooding Valour picking up their kids. Both elementary and high school students are being released to parents.

Speaking with mother Julietta, she said everything this morning has been well organized and calm. She was anxious and a bit nervous about the situation but adds everyone involved is doing a great job.

Parents are permitted to pick their kids up from the school. Parents must attend in person, line up and check in with officials before their child will be released to them.

OPP say there is no threat to the public.
