Weekend Weather Swings

We're in for another rollercoaster ride of weather this weekend, but it shouldn't be extreme enough to impact any plans to enjoy the outdoors.

Environment Canada says it's going to be mild on Saturday, with the high expected to reach 2 degrees.

However, that mild air comes with a chance of some light freezing drizzle on Saturday morning, and possibly some flurries or showers Saturday afternoon, and the weather agency hadn't issued any warnings or advisories as of Friday morning.

Sunday's conditions look great, with a mix of sun and cloud expected, but it will turn colder with a high of only -9.

And then, the temperature takes a huge dive again on Sunday night with a low of -22.

Colder conditions are also expected for the early part of next week.

The good news is more of the snowmobile trail network is opening around the Ottawa Valley, especially in the corridors linking Deep River, Petawawa, Pembroke and Barry's Bay .. along with parts of the Algonquin Park and Haliburton areas.

In Ottawa, another section of the Rideau Canal Skateway was also opened up on Friday morning.
