Wintry Weather Mix Hits The Valley

Wintry weather has returned for an encore performance in the Ottawa Valley.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement overnight, with up to 15 cm of snow forecast in areas closer to the Ottawa River, and the possibility of freezing rain and ice pellets throughout the Valley.

Special Weather Statement

The Pembroke, Petawawa, Deep River, Renfrew, Arnprior, Barry's Bay, Eganville and Killaloe areas can expect snow, heavy at times, with 10 to 15 cm possible by late this afternoon.  There is also a risk of freezing rain and ice pellets in these areas.  Drivers are urged to use caution today.

Freezing Rain Warning

The freezing rain warnings covers areas to the south and east, including the Bancroft, Denbigh, Sharbot Lake and Lanark County areas, along with the southern edges of Ottawa.  A few hours of freezing rain is possible in these areas before the precipitation changes to snow later today.  Surfaces may become extremely slippery as a result.
