• Phantom of the Opera - April 28th at 7:30pm

Vernon & Disttrict Performing Arts Centre - Vernon
Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada's Phantom of the Opera is a captivating story which evokes timeless themes and images of outcasts, love, and the power of obsession. Inspired by Gason Leroux's 1910 novel of the same name, the story has continued to excite the imaginations of readers, reaching across different cultures and eras. With original choreography by Igor Dobrovolskiy set to the music of Francis Poulenc, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA features lush costumes created by Paul Daigle and an intriguing set design by Brian Perchaluk. Pierre Lavoie's ethereal mix of light and shadows perfectly captures the eerie world where a love triangle ensnares, Erik, the beautiful ingénue whom he loves, and the dashing young viscount who wins her heart. Igor Dobrovolskiy, Artistic Director and Choreographer for Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada, fuses ballet technique with theatrical expression - what he terms a "theatre of movement." Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada pursues a continuous creative process in an environment that supports origination and strong technical and expressive dancers who co-create with him. Through collaboration with like-minded artists attracted by the vision and artistic philosophy of our Artistic Director our creative practice uses ballet-art as a platform to see our world in more compelling, poignant and imaginative ways.
