  • Build the Clubhouse Campaign

    NONA needs to raise $1.6 million to create the purpose-built facility for children and youth in need. A community initiative called Build the Clubhouse is underway to construct a new $1.6 million facility for children with special needs. NONA Child Development Centre provides services in the North Okanagan to more than 700 children and youth with special needs and their families each year. The increasing number of children and youth who are diagnosed each year with Autism Spectrum Disorder is driving the need for more space and more appropriate resources.

  • 2nd Annual Lawn Days of Summer

    JCI Vernon and BDO Canada LLP have teamed up to bring an exciting networking event to Vernon’s young professionals. The 2nd Annual Lawn Days of Summer Tournament will be taking place at the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club in Polson Park and will be hosted over the span of three Wednesday evenings: August 9, 16 & 23. Entry is $300 per team of four with all proceeds going to support the Canadian Mental Health Association, specifically Workplace Mental Health Programs. There is only room for 12 teams, so register your team of four today!
  • Interior Savings Moonlight Movies

    As the sun goes down in our communities, Interior Savings Credit Union and the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs will be lighting up parks in your area with an awesome movie on a giant inflatable movie screen and fun activities for the family. The community is invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a movie under the stars. There is no charge to attend the event, but a donation of $10 per family is encouraged with all proceeds benefiting the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. Concession and Activities begin at 7:00pm. Movie starts at dusk.     The event will begin at 5:30pm, with an aperitif reception and art viewing, followed by an Italian dinner served family style under the stars complete with wine and pairings. Suggested attire is one of casual elegance with the colours black, white and red. The funds for this year's event will go towards the long term goal of opening up the Caetani Centre to greater community access.

    The North Okanagan Hospice Society is pleased to present a 2 hour workshop about “You are not Alone: Planning for Caregiving at Home” to be held in Lumby, Sept 5: 10 am -12 pm; Vernon, Sept. 5: 2-4 pm; and Armstrong, Sept. 6: 10 am -12 pm. Family caregivers and their seriously ill family member are invited to learn how to plan for caregiving early in the illness journey using a ‘Family Caregiving Decision-making Guide’. This is an opportunity to gather information and network with other caregivers. These free workshops fill up quickly and space is limited. Registration is required by August 23.
