    The “Professional Zaniac,” who’s been cracking jokes onstage for almost 15 years, makes his way to the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre Sunday, January 20! Zigzagging between physical stunts and non-stop comedy, this all ages show is sure to leave you both laughing and in awe! Beatboxing, juggling, dancing, singing, music and magic are just a few of the things you'll see first hand on the stage! This is the second show of the Performing Arts Centre's Spotlight Kids Series.

  • BC Snow Sculpture Competition

    Silver Star Mountain - 123 Shortt St, Silver Star Mountain, BC - Vernon
    The Snow Sculpture Competition takes centre stage at SilverStar Mountain the first weekend of Carnival. This yearly event brings to life a gallery of beautiful sculptures created of only water and snow. Watch as these amazing artists create their masterpieces in our very own backyard. The community can view the progress of these magnificent works of art beginning at 10:00am Friday, February 1st until 10:00am Sunday, February 3rd. The awards presentation will be Sun. Feb. 3rd at 11:00am. Come up Sunday morning to help us determine the “People’s Choice Award” and take in all the great activities Silver Star Mountain Resort has to offer. The finished sculptures are up for viewing for a week or two after the competition; weather dependent.

    The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents Monster Theatre’s We Now Know: The Complete History of Science on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. We Now Know: The Complete History of Science is the third show in the 2018/19 SPOTLIGHT Kids' Series. We Now Know is a one-hour rapid-fire comedy for young audiences chronicling the complete history of science. By exploring the constant evolution of what "we now know", our intrepid hosts realize that the more we learn, the more there is yet to discover. Using comedy, puppets, masks, physical theatre, projections, original songs and audience participation, Monster Theatre will explore the discoveries, inventions and innovations of humankind since the dawn of time. It's history without the boring stuff.

    The Special Olympics BC Winter Games are coming to Greater Vernon February 21 - 23! Over 600 special athletes from all over the province and the Yukon will be bringing their talents to town, competing with pride in eight sports. The 2019 Provincial Games will be the largest SOBC Winter Games to date! Alpine skiing, cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, floor hockey, snowshoeing, and speed skating will now be joined by 5-pin bowling in the winter games. Special Olympics BC is looking for your help!
