    The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch and Lumby & District Health Society are offering a free screening opportunity for those who are at risk for kidney disease on September 26, 93:30am - 3:30pm at White Valley Community Centre, 2250 Shields Avenue, Lumby. This includes individuals with one or more of the following: • Diabetes • High blood pressure • Cardio Vascular disease • Kidney problems • Family history of chronic kidney disease • An ancestry which includes Aboriginal, African, Asian, South Asian, Caribbean, Hispanic or South Pacific • Those who are 55 years old Testing done includes: • Urinalysis • Blood Pressure • Waist circumference and weight • Body Mass Index • Blood Glucose (no fasting required) • Two Kidney function tests with STAT Sensor machine Pre-registration required. Businesses will be visited and invited to purchase plates of 4 various sweets at $3 each. This is a fundraiser for the Chapter to aid in supporting IODE (standing for Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire) sponsored education and services projects, both locally and nationally.

    Cherryville Hall: 158 North Fork Road - Cherryville
    The Cherryville Elementary PAC will be hosting their annual Christmas Bazaar on Sunday, December 2, at the Cherryville Hall, located at 158 North Fork Road. The bazaar is an annual fundraiser to support the students. The money raised helps to support field trips, year end water slide day and so much more. The Hall will open at 8:30am for vendors to come in and set up their tables, and doors will open to shoppers at 11:00am to 3:00 pm. There will also be a concession. Come and support some local artists and get some Christmas Shopping done at the same time!
