Air Quality Concerns Return
The Ministry of Environment and the Interior Health Authority, has issued a Dust Advisory for Vernon. Conditions are expected to persist until there is a change in current weather conditions. We're not expecting changes till Wednesday, when the forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of showers.
People with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. Staying indoors and in air-conditioned spaces helps to reduce particulate exposure. Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, and lung or heart disease.
Monday morning the Air Quality Health Index was at 3, but is expected to go up to 5, which is in the moderate category later in the day.
