BC Wildfires Increase

Firefighting crews are being kept very busy.

Wildfire service Spokesman Ryan Turcot said more than 300 wildfires have started since Tuesday. The Cariboo region saw the bulk of them, but there are several small fires that were sparked in the North Okanagan and Shuswap. There are several small fires east of Lumby and in the Enderby area. One of the largest is the Monte Lake fire at 22 hectares

Two backcountry resorts are among the properties evacuated in southern British Columbia because of wildfires. the lodge at Cathedral Provincial Park, south of Princeton, and the lodge in Kootenay National Park, near the Alberta boundary, were both evacuated.
