Carnival Tradition Continues.

Winter Carnival Chair Deb White says, "The Queen Silver Star Excellence Program has been transforming the lives of young women in the Vernon area for over 58 years! The program provides opportunity and experience to ladies in our community and allows them to give back to our wonderful city!"

It was announced July 20th that the program may not proceed for the 59th annual Vernon Winter Carnival due to lack of candidates.  Vernon Winter Carnival and the Queen Silver Star Excellence Program are excited to announce that the Queen Silver Star Excellence program will continue! 2019 will see the crowning of two new ambassadors!
“We are overwhelmed by the amount of support that the North Okanagan showed when we announced that the program was in jeopardy” said carnival chair Deb White. “The amount of emails, phone calls, Facebook shares, comments and support was absolutely amazing”
Queen Silver Star Excellence program chair Coleen Noel states “We currently have 8 confirmed candidates and we are just waiting on the paperwork for our 9th candidate. The girls are very excited that the program will continue for the 59th annual Vernon Winter Carnival”
The Queens committee is very excited to work with the candidates. The committee is made up of 6 volunteers, including past candidates.
Noel says, "This is such an amazing program for the young ladies aged 15 - 18. They learn so many life skills including; interview skills, automotive, financial planning, etiquette and this is just to name a few. There is also the possibility of earning scholarships!"
