Early Ice Wine Harvest

Winemakers in the central Okanagan region say this year's icewine harvest will be the earliest on record.

It could also be one of the shortest, as most of the grapes are expected to be picked in just two nights.

Eric von Krosigk of Summerhill Pyramid Winery says successive nights of temperatures below minus-eight degrees Celsius have created the ideal conditions for picking grapes for icewine.

Grapes must be picked and crushed at temperatures of minus-eight or colder in order to comply with regulations surrounding icewine production.
