Lake Country RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate a fatal collision between Lake Country and Vernon early Monday evening.
On January 23rd at 6:36 pm, emergency crews rushed to the scene of a collision. Preliminary information at the scene suggests that a passenger vehicle, which had been northbound on Highway 97 North, left the roadway, down a steep embankment and came to rest on Crystal Water Road below.
The injuries to the driver and sole female occupant of the vehicle proved to be fatal, sadly she perished at the scene. Police have positively identified the woman and efforts remain underway to properly notify her family.
"Our investigators believe that there are potentially other motorists who may have witnessed this crash and have not yet come forward to police," states Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey. "The Lake Country RCMP are urging all witnesses to come forward with any information."
The Lake Country RCMP and its Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist Services (ICARS) section continue to assist the BC Coroners Service in this ongoing investigation, of which few details are being released at this time to protect its integrity.
