Fire dispatch reports the Coldstream Fire Department was called out for a bush/grass fire on the King Edward Forest Service Road. The call came in shortly after ten Monday night. The area is a popular spot for the annual pre-school grad party.
A fire broke out west of Peachland over the weekend, forcing some residents to flee their homes. The 'Finlay Creek' fire, is 15-hundred hectares in size. The regional district reports that 98 people have registered at the evacuation centre. A further 97 properties near Faulder were put on advisory evacuation alert and need to be ready to leave at a moment's notice.
Meanwhile, east of Kelowna, all evacuated residents of the Joe Rich area near the Philpott Road Fire are back home as of yesterday however, evacuation alerts remain in place and they need to be ready to pack up and go again at a moment's notice. The fire remains at 465 hectares in size and is now 50% contained.
Recreational use of crown land, including hunting, is prohibited in the area.
