Firefighters Face Extreme Conditions
Enderby's fire chief says an amazing job was done by their Firefighters Monday night.
While facing extreme conditions firefighters battled a stubborn blaze at South Enderby Boards. The small mill makes wood furniture.
Fire Chief Cliff Vetter says that these aren't the best conditions for fighting fires, "When we arrived on scene there was a fully engulfed structure, it had already gotten in the attic, and was coming out the gable ends." Vetter says that the one workshop structure was destroyed, "A total loss. Nothing outside the building was affected by the fire."
He says fortunately, no one was hurt, "No injuries to firefighters. Cold weather was definitely a factor, we had issues with our packs freezing up, and then consequently with the amount of water we had to put on - the ground got pretty icy."
The cause is unknown.
