Flood Watch Continues

As the level of Okanagan Lake continues to rise, it was up another 1cm Sunday from the day before, emergency officials are warning that the lake level will likely continue to rise until mid June.

An estimated 50% of the upper elevation snow pack has yet to melt and private property owners are warned to remain vigilant in protecting their land.  A new expected high lake level of 343.5 metres has been set, which means Okanagan Lake is expected to rise another 22cm.

The Okanagan Indian Band evacuated more homes on the weekend,  Louis Estates - even closing the road to the area at the North End of Okanagan Lake.

Work on Lakeshore Road will continue today.  It will be closed at Kin Beach again at 8am Monday until possibly June 10th. The road will remain open to local traffic.  Bus service will not be available on Lakeshore Road or Okanagan Landing Road near Marshall Field during the closure.
