ID Property if Lost or Stolen

Would you be able to identify property after it’s been lost or stolen - especially if you got something new for Christmas?

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP and the City of Vernon Community Safety Unit are hosting a community engraving day on January 12th. Volunteers will be on hand to engrave all items including, but not limited to; bikes, tools, ski’s and snowboards.

Event Details:
•When: January 12th, 2019
•Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
•Location: 3010 31st Ave, Vernon (COV Community Safety Unit)

“The engraving service offered by the City of Vernon Community Safety Unit is not new to most residents, however the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are experiencing a high volume of property that is recovered after being lost or stolen with no way to it track back to its original owner,” says Cst. Kelly Brett. “The RCMP are encouraging the community to engrave their valuables to make identification easier for police.”

Brett says, "Please ensure you bring identification as all items will be engraved with a personal identification number from either a Driver’s license or another form of picture identification."
