Lakes at Full Pool

Both Okanagan and Kal Lake are at full pool - which is not good news with more rain in the forecast.

Shawn Reimer, with the Ministry of Forestry, Lands and Natural Resources,  oversees the release of water from Okanagan Lake. He  says they can only release 1cm to 1.75cm per day.  In the past week  125-million cubic metres of water has gone into Okanagan Lake - that's about 36cm on the lake.  And he says there is still a lot of snow at higher elevations.

He says it will get worse before it gets better.  Reimer believes we could see the worst flooding in more than 20 years. Worse than in 1990 and 1997.
Brian Reardon, the Central Okanagan Regional District's director of emergency operations,  warns that weather expected to arrive will ``eclipse'' the 1997 storm considered to be the worst ever in the Okanagan and could be a 200 year event.
