Life sentence for Foerster
The man responsible for the death of Taylor Van Diest has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 17 years.
The family of the teen was at the Vernon court house Tuesday when the Judge announced the sentence.
Matthew Foerster pleaded guilty to second degree murder earlier this year after an appeal of a first degree murder conviction.
Foester was successful in the appeal on the grounds there were errors made by the judge in the first trial.
Taylor Van Diest was attacked and beaten with a flashlight on Halloween night in 2011, as she walked to a party along the train tracks in Armstrong.
