MP Reaction to SNC Lavalin Trudeau Ruling

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is accepting responsibility, but is not apologizing - saying he was standing up for Canadian jobs because that's what Canadians expect him to do.

Former Liberal cabinet minister Jane Philpott says Canadians ``deserve an apology'' from the prime minister.  Philpott says she found ``validation'' in yesterday's report that found that Justin Trudeau violated the Conflict of Interest Act by pressuring former justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould to intervene in the S-N-C criminal case.

Wilson-Raybould refused and eventually resigned from the Liberal cabinet, with Philpott joining her a month later. Both women were later kicked out of the Liberal caucus and are looking to retain their seats as Independents in the upcoming federal election.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer wants police to get involved, but he adds voters will ultimately decide his punishment in the October election.

North Okanagan - Shuswap Conservative MP Mel Arnold says, "Canadians should be able to expect the highest of ethics in their Prime Minister.  Canada deserves better."  (with files from CP)
