Evacuation Alerts in place

The Okanagan Indian Band has issued evacuation alerts due to what they say is the imminent breech of Whiteman Creek.  

About 40 homes along Whiteman Creek near Parker Cove on Okanagan Indian Band land are being told to be prepared to evacuate quickly if the water continues to rise. 

Alerts have also been issued for properties on Bonneau Road.   The OKIB Emergency Operation Centre issued an evacuation alert for the North End of  Bonneau Road address #190,#172#166#138 
"Be prepared to evacuate if ordered to do so by emergency officials."

The affected area is described as Falcon Avenue (Parker Cove) to include house numbers 154-195.

Sand and sandbags are available in two locations:
-OKIB Public Works and Housing 11505 Westside Road
-Whiteman Creeks Across from Parker Cove

The Band is also concerned about Westside Road/  This is a Wash Out 6.5 km south of Junction with Highway 97 and  3 km north of Fintry - both are single lane alternating traffic.  Construction will begin Thursday to repair the road near Fintry and is expected to be closed for several hours..
