Shuswap Bombing Suspect Arrested
A Salmon Arm man has been arrested and charged in connection with two armoured guard robberies and bank explosions in Edmonton.
38 year old Justin Byron was detained Monday at Edmonton International Airport.
He's facing 16 charges relating to two bomb attacks on armoured guards at Edmonton banks last year.
No one was injured after an improvised explosive device was detonated in the vestibule of a bank last September as armoured guards were arriving. Two other guards suffered serious injuries and a thief made off with an undisclosed amount of money following a second blast at another bank in December.
Edmonton Police say they recovered some of the money after tracking a suspect in Salmon Arm, who is believed to have been planning another incident. They are thanking Salmon Arm RCMP for playing a key role in the case.
Byron is facing four counts of using an explosive device, and two counts of robbery with a firearm. He'll be in court on Friday.
