Skier Did Not Survive
A skier who was rescued after being seriously injured in the North Okanagan has died.
Vernon RCMP say they received a report of a backcountry skier that got separated from his group on a ski run near Keefer Lake Lodge while on a Cat-Ski tour of 14 people. A search was originally initiated by the ski group.
The skier, a 51 year old Vancouver man, fell into a tree well and was located by the ski group un-responsive shortly after the report made to the RCMP. BC Ambulance Service attended the scene and air-lifted the male to the nearest medical facility, however resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the male did not survive his injuries.
The death is non suspicious and the RCMP continue to work with the BC Coroners Service on the investigation.
