Smoke Forecast Improves

Environment Canada says southwest winds blowing smoke into the Okanagan  are following a typical pattern.

Meterologist Cindy Yu says she's seeing that the big Diamond Creek fire that crossed into Canada from Washington State yesterday might not be the only factor.  She says there is another plum near Mount Rainier, which can be seen from the satellite.

Yu says winds will start coming in from the west coast, rather than Washington State.   She says given other fires in BC, we may not be completely smoke-free for a little while longer.   She says another factor this weekend will be the hot temperatures as we head into September.    Vernon is expecting temperatures in the low 30's.

She says temperature records might be broken with highs over 30 degrees.
