Special Weather Statement

A special weather statement is in effect across the Okanagan.

Environment Canada's Lisa Ervin says it could get windy starting Friday afternoon.

Friday afternoon winds could gust between 30 and 50km/hr.  “The real concern then comes evening when winds should be more in the range of 50, gusting to  70 kilometres per hour, or more,” says Lisa Ervin, Environment Canada Meteorologist.

Ervin cautions, “Secure loose objects down, take extra precaution when setting up tents, try to avoid heavily wooded areas.  For folks looking to get out on the water, please bear our forecast in mind.”   Boaters are being warned to prepare for strong and gusty winds.  She says boaters should pay attention to their local forecasts and perhaps rethink any plans to get out on the water.

The high winds should dissipate by Saturday morning.
