Update Monday morning:

RCMP have now clarified what happened.

Cst. Kelly Brett says it was  reported as a road rage incident where an alleged firearm was pointed at another vehicle. A high risk vehicle stop was conducted, however through further investigation the allegation was proven false and driver was allowed to proceed. 


No official word from Vernon RCMP after an incident on one of the city's busiest streets at around 1:30 pm Sunday afternoon.

A car was pulled over in the westbound lanes of 25th Avenue, in front of Fruit Union Plaza.

The vehicle was surrounded by police cars.  One witness says a person was handcuffed by police at gunpoint.
