Thanksgiving Weekend Dangerous On Highways

We're heading into the Thanksgiving Long Weekend, traditionally a busy travel weekend in BC.  ICBC is reminding everyone to be careful on the roads and be aware that conditions can change suddenly.

ICBC Road Safety Co-ordinator Doug MacDonald says rain, hail, snow, and sleet are all conditions you might see over the weekend. You're reminded to take it slow, and make sure you're running the appropriate tires.

ICBC says that Thanksgiving in the Southern Interior brings an average of 300 accidents and 56 injuries, with snowy highway conditions playing a major role. The provincial average is 2,100 accidents, 650 injuries, and four deaths.
