The Canada Games Torch Relay is stopping in Vernon Tuesday, December 4th.
Games CEO, Scott Robinson, says the torch was lit in Ottawa on October 4th and has been making its way across the country.
The event includes a number of fun family activities and begins at 4pm at the Halina Centre in the Rec Centre Complex. The MNP Canada Games Torch Relay will see Mayor Victor Cumming, Member of Parliament Mel Arnold, and Blair Gronlund, Partner at MNP carry the torch from City Hall to the Vernon Recreation Centre.
Robinson says the event will include a public skate, bouncy inflatables, photo booth, fun indoor games including a Hockey Shot contest. You can also enjoy hot chocolate, snacks and prizes. It is an opportunity to meet and snap a photo with your favourite mascots, like Silver Star Ski Hill’s mascot, Sniper from the Vernon Vipers and the Canada Games’ very own Waskasoo.
He says the Canada Games in Red Deer next year will host more athletes than the Olympics.
