Valley First feeds the valley
Coming into the holiday season food banks are increasing efforts to fill their shelves.
Valley First Credit Union is now accepting non-perishable food donations and money for people in need until December 9th.
Feed the Valley donations can be made at any Valley First branch or to the administrative office in Penticton.
Senior manager of community investment with Valley First Susan Byrom says food bank use in British Columbia has increased by more than 32 per cent since 2008 - one-third of those who access food banks are children.
Feed the Valley started in 2010 and has raised $1.5 million and more than 74,000 pounds of food to date.
