Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Okanagan and much of the Interior.
A cold front is expected to develop over the central interior this morning and slide into our region before weakening this evening. Ahead of the front, southwest winds, gusting up to 60 kmh, are expected to develop in the Southern Interior this afternoon.
Isolated thunderstorms could also develop across the central interior, Columbia's, and Thompson/Shuswap region this afternoon and evening.
Brief showers with wind gusts up to 80 are possible near thunderstorms.
The B-C Wildfire Service says crews are concerned the strong winds without substantial rain will fuel the fires burning in the Interior.
