The 2017 Woman of the year is Sue Beaudry.

Beaudry was surprised when her name was called.  She says she didn't honestly believe she was going to win because, "I'm just one of many, I'm so honoured.

She says she always taught her children the more your give the more you will get out and giving back to a community is so important.  Beaudry says Vernon is a very giving community.

Beaudry  was recognized for her work fundraising at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, serving on several boards, including the Vernon Restholm, Women in Business and the Cancer Society.   She is also involved the Kalamalka caring clowns.

Seven other nominees were also recognized at  Thursday night's 30th Annual Gala.
