55 Games Back in Vernon

The athletes are already starting to arrive for the 2017 Vernon and Area 55+ BC Games.

President, Wee Yee says 30 years ago the games started here in Vernon and has grown from 600 participants to over 3600 participants in 27 sports.  He encourages local residents to get involved by being great hosts and taking in the events and opening ceremony.

Yee says once again Vernon has come through with more than enough volunteers, now at over 1277, including some volunteers from Kelowna and Vancouver.

He says the most popular events are Equestrian at the IPE grounds in Armstrong, hockey, dragon boats at Kal Beach and pickle ball, which is being played indoors because the tennis courts are needed for tennis.

The 4-day event begins Wednesday and runs till Saturday at venues in Vernon, Coldstream,  Armstrong and Spallumcheen.
