Cold Weather to Kick Off 2017
We're starting the new year off with a cold snap.
Bitterly cold temperatures have settled over southern B-C. Environment Canada says Arctic outflow warnings are issued when frigid air flows from the interior to the coast, creating wind chill values of minus 20 or colder for at least six hours.
In Vernon, our high for Tuesday is only minus 10, which is 4 degrees colder than the normal overnight low. It will feel like minus 27 when you head out today because of the wind chill and there's a risk of frostbite Tuesday night.
Some areas are even colder. Yoho and Kootenay Park are under an extreme cold warning, facing wind chill values of -35.
