IIO Investigates Tuesday Incident

The Independent Investigation Office is looking into a police incident in Sicamous.

RCMP say they were called about 11:30 Tuesday morning because a man was threatening to kill himself with a knife at a car wash on Maier Road.  
Police say they found a man with what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds, but he ran and continuing to injure himself.

 A police officer ran after the man to a nearby gas station parking lot where the man was arrested and taken to hospital. 

The Independent Investigations Office -- which investigates all police-involved deaths and serious injuries -- is now investigating to determine whether there is any connection between the officers' actions and the man's injuries.   Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact the IIO BC at 1-855-446-8477.
