Rail Trail hits Sicamous

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has announced a $2.17-million dollar injection to acquire a section of the rail corridor in the Okanagan.

Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo made the announcement Friday afternoon.

The government will purchase a 43-kilometre section of the corridor between Sicamous and Armstrong.

Long term plans are to convert the CP rail line into a mulit-use recreational trail to run with the 7 kilometres owned by the Splatsin First Nation.

The total 50 kms would service the communities of Armstrong, Enderby, Grindrod and Sicamous.
