Reception Centre for Evacuees
The City of Vernon is set up to receive evacuees from other areas of the province that have been affected by recent wildfires. The reception centre will be operated by City Emergency Support Services (ESS) and ESS volunteers.
The reception centre will be at the Salvation Army House of Hope located at 3303 32 Avenue in Vernon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day beginning July 14 to July 20, with the possibility of extension. The City Emergency Program is pleased to be working with The Salvation Army in providing services to the evacuees. The reception centre can be contacted at 250-309-0638.
Evacuees may access food, clothing, lodging and incidentals, which is funded by the Province of B.C.
