Two Human Caused Fires In Okanagan

A grass fire in Coldstream Tuesday afternoon was brought under control within minutes thanks to quick action from Coldstream fire crews.  The fire was close to homes, but they were never threatened.

The fire broke out shortly before 5pm on the Trail that links Middleton Way with Kal Lake Road.

The fire is considered suspicious and neighbours say two teen age girls were walking along the trail minutes before the fire broke out.  RCMP are involved in the investigation.

BC wildfire crews continue to work to contain a forest fire near Westside Road.  The fire, which began in the lunch hour Tuesday, is estimated at 2.5 hectares .

Information Officer, Max Birkner,  says the fire is located north of Trader's Cove in the Blue Grouse Mountain area. 30 provincial firefighters were helping municipal crews battle the flames.

The cause of the wildfire is under investigation, but it's believed a deserted campfire was to blame.
