Vernon Council Approves Firefighting Assistance for Wildfires
Vernon Council has endorsed the use of one engine or tanker and up to six Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) members to provide support for provincial wildfire suppression if assistance is requested by the Province.
VFRS has committed to sending resources only when there is enough strength locally to maintain services to Vernon. VFRS firefighters deployed to assist provincial wildfire suppression efforts could include members of the Vernon Volunteer Fire Association and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), as well as one chief.
The District Of Coldstream has also given permission for five members of that department to help.
And two members from Enderby, along with tender, have also been sent to the staging area in 150 Mile House.
