Weekend in Review: July 6-7
On Saturday I went to Vibrant Vine to celebrate their 1st birthday since their grand re-opening. The party was jam packed with live music, games and of course wine tasting. The winery itself was so beautiful and I'm totally going back for a tasting soon! I spent the day hanging out on the front terrace overlooking the live music and lawn area where the majority of the party goers were. After a bit I moved onto the patio to be in the heart of it all. I learned about the Woops wine that is upside down haha! They even made a popsicle or woopsicle... So wine infused. If you haven't been I would recommend checking it out on a tour this summer. If you head over to my Instagram you can see some of the pictures of the awesome artwork around the whole winery. And get this, it's all 3D too! My favourite is the fox, coincidentally the picture on their brand new wine.
On Sunday I found myself at the Okanagan Indigenous Music and Arts Festival over on the west side. It looked like the weather was going to wash out the whole day but the rain held off and the clouds turned into sun. There were a bunch of vendors selling traditional art and jewelry. And I spent some time with Michelle and Ava to learn some words in nsyilxcən. The language spoken by syilx/okanagan indigenous people. So yeah, I can say bear… At the festival I was able to learn and celebrate the beauty and diversity of the Okanagan Indigenous Culture through traditional and contemporary music, dance, storytelling, workshops, vendors and art. There were great performances from local talent- Dani Lion and Nuge Bird. Dani Lion did a cover of one my favourite songs and Nuge Bird had an insane beat boxing set. The festival went on into the evening with more performances too!
