Weekend In Review: June 22-23
Saturday I spent the day at the Kelowna Pride Festival in City Park. It was such a fun day and there was so much going on. Live music, food trucks, pride vendors and information tents. The community got together to show their support for one another and I was so glad to be a part of it all. I met so many new friends all day! I have some very colourful pictures on the fun seeker Instagram account that are worth a looksy loo...
Sunday I went to two events which made for a packed day. I woke up early for the Payton and Dillon Budd Memorial Ride at the Kelowna Curling Club. The Thomas Alan Budd Foundation rose over $100,000 to put toward mental health programs/organizations locally. The morning started off with the 50km ride first and riders were cheered on on their way out. It's amazing seeing so many people coming together to support something so diverse and work to squash out the stigma surrounding mental health. It was raining but spirits weren't dampened; friends, family and furry friends were riding or walking for someone they know who is struggling with their mental health. Who would you ride or walk for? #RideDontHide
Sunday afternoon the sun finally peaked through the clouds and it was perfect timing for the BBQ I was headed to. The Glenrosa Assosication invited me down for their first annual neighbourhood BBQ to bring the Glenrosa community together. There was something for everyone- bouncy castles, ice cream (for me haha!), games, local vendors and neighbourhood watch. It was really about bringing the community together to meet your neighbours and get more involved where you live. My prize wheel was definitely a hit this afternoon and all the kids were really excited to try to win stuff with their friends or siblings.
