Glass Tiger gave a longtime fan a very special private performance last week.

The Canadian pop-rock band, who burst onto the scene in 1986 with “Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone),” stopped in at the Pleasant View Lodge in Mayerthorpe, Alberta to surprise 95-year-old Jean Savage.

Frontman Alan Frew explained on Facebook that he found out Savage was a Glass Tiger fan from a staff member at the nursing home, who asked if he’d consider coming by on the way to the band’s concert at the Eagle River Casino in nearby Whitecourt.

“I don’t mind telling you, we are slammed on this run, tired, beat up, on a tight schedule but I asked the guys to come with me and do me this favour but more importantly, for this dear, sweet, lady,” Frew said. “And so we pulled the bus up at the lodge and entered together, much to Jean’s surprise and amazement.

“She had been anxious to get to bingo but they told her something ‘special’ was arriving!”

Frew said it was “beyond priceless” to see Savage’s face when she saw him. He and his bandmates serenaded her with their hit “Someday.”
