Blood donors asked to share stories

Canadian Blood Services is trying something new to encourage people to donate blood.

They've launched a new microsite – – that puts faces and names to those impacted by blood donation.

Peter MacDonald, director of donor relations for Atlantic Canada, said it's a chance for donors, partners, volunteers, recipients and others to say 'thank you' and share their journey.

"Personal stories help build strong communities and they provide a connection to anyone who donates in Fredericton," MacDonald said in a news release. "We created this digital space where people from across Canada can come together to celebrate blood donation – its ability to give life, give time and give joy."

Meanwhile, Canadian Blood Services is holding blood donor clinics in Fredericton ahead of the Easter long weekend.

They are looking to fill 210 appointments at the STU Conference Centre, located at 368 Forest Hill Road.

The clinics take place Monday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
