Classes at Fredericton High postponed by at least one day

Students at Fredericton High School will be going back to class a bit later than expected.

The Anglophone West School District says the start of classes next week will be delayed "by at least one day" due to construction delays.

Grade 9 and all newcomer students will start on Wednesday, while those in grades 10 to 12 will head back to class on Thursday.

All students will be in class on Friday.

"The delay in starting is needed to ensure the school is safe for students and staff," the school district said on its website Friday. "Teachers also need time to prepare their classrooms for the upcoming year."

The construction is part of the school's $14.1-million capital improvement plan, said the district.
