Construction begins on new provincial youth treatment centre
Government says construction has begun on a new $14.4 million provincial treatment centre for youth with complex needs.
A sod-turning event was held in Campbellton on Tuesday.
Labour, Employment, and Population Growth Minister Gilles LePage says the new centre will provide youth and children with complex needs access to services that they are not able to presently obtain.
The 15-bed centre will be housed in a 7,500-square metre facility being built on land near the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
The centre will include a regional treatment capacity, while its clinical staff will also provide outreach services in communities around the province.
The project was announced in May 2015 and the design of the new centre was unveiled in February 2017.
