Deadline to file tax returns fast approaching

If you haven't filed your income tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency, the deadline is fast approaching.

Most returns for 2016 are due on April 30, but since the deadline falls on a weekend, the CRA will consider your return filed on time if they receive it by midnight on May 1, or if it's postmarked May 1.

The province says residents must file their income tax return to be eligible for several provincial and federal tax credits, including the provincial HST and the federal GST credits.

Other programs include Health Smiles, Clear Vision, Canada Learning Bond, New Brunswick Child Tax Benefit, Canada Child Benefit and the New Brunswisk School Supplement.
