Federal government announces investment in coastal habitat restoration project in Southeast N.B.
The federal government has announced a more than $1.3 million investment in a coastal habitat restoration project in Southeast New Brunswick.
The announcement was made Thursday by Miramichi-Grand Lake MP Pat Finnigan on behalf of Fisheries, Oceans, and Canadian Coast Guard Minister Dominic LeBlanc.
Kopit Lodge, a conservation group from Elsipogtog First Nation, is set to receive the money through the Oceans Protection Plan over a five-year period to restore the Atlantic salmon habitat and migration in the Richibucto, Kouchibouguacis, Kouchibouguac and Black rivers.
Government says one of the major activities will include building a fish ladder on an old dam on the Kouchibouguac River.
